Construction Volunteer Opportunities:
- Core Volunteers – A dedicated group of volunteers who support us regularly (usually weekly) and typically have some familiarity with tools.
- Guest Volunteers – Individual volunteers who join us occasionally, with no minimun requirement or on-going commitment. Open to both skilled and unskilled participants.
- Group Volunteers – Teams of four or more from businesses, churches, community organizations, or groups of friends. To schedule a group build day, email mlouderback@habitatsusq.org. (Please note that all individuals within a group must complete this application).
- Sponsored Build Opportunties - Reserve a build site just for your group! We offer sponsorship opportunties beginning at $2,500 so you can host a team building day on a home site for up to 15 individuals! Your company or organization will receive sponsor benefits including your name on the site sign, social media and newsletter shout-outs, recognition at the home dedication and more! All participants will receive a Habitat Susquehanna t-shirt and lunch. Show your community support by partnering with Habitat Susquehanna!
Build Schedule & Timing
- Wednesdays: Reserved for our Core Volunteers and some opportunities for sponsored builds
- Thursdays – Saturdays: Open to all volunteers - Core, Guest, and Groups!
- Time: Build sites are open from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Times vary for each build and will be indicated on the sign up calendar.
Age Requirements & Forms:
- All volunteers must:
- Complete this application
- Watch a safety video (link is included the application)
- Read and accept terms of our Volunteer Agreement, Release, and Waiver of Liability Form (link is included in the application)
- Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers under 18 must have a parent/guardian complete this application.
What to Expect on Site
- A variety of tasks for all skill levels
- A morning briefing with an overview of Habitat and review of the day’s tasks and safety information.
- Step-by-step guidance from our site supervisors
- A mix of new home builds and home rehabilitations
- Typical Volunteer Tasks:
- Framing, roofing, siding, window installation
- Painting (interior & exterior)
- Installing cabinets, vanities, appliances, flooring
- Landscaping & site cleanup
- A rewarding experience! Feel the satisfaction of making a real impact - your efforts help build affordable housing for families in need. Plus, volunteering is a fun, hands-on way to connect with others and learn new skills!
All tools, gloves, and safety equipment are provided and supervised by the Habitat Susquehanna team. Have your own tools? Feel free to bring them!
The application takes just a few minutes but includes an 18-minute safety video. Please allow time to complete it all in one session.
Once your application is complete, you will receive an email with a link to our Build Site Volunteer Opportunities Calendar, where you can sign up for Guest and Group build days.
